Big Bend, target for trade corridor, may become "international" park

Big Bend is the target for one of Rick Perry’s planned Trans Texas Corridor routes, called La Entrada de Pacifico. So it shouldn’t surprise us that the idea of turning one of Texas’ natural treasures over to international control is being floated anew. Connect the dots…

Should Big Bend Become an ‘International Park?’
US Interior Secretary proposed the idea today, proposal dates back to the 1930s

    Just Say No!
Mexico will never live up to their part of any agreement…
    When we ever learn?

This park belongs to America and America only! The land that Big Bend Park sits on is American soil not Mexico or any other country. Mr. Salazar, if you are so worried about funding the park then you sell your house and give up half your paycheck to pay for it. Further more, Mexico has no money and relies on money hand fed to them to fight the drug war that they cannot stop. People in Mexico haven’t any money, that is why they are risking their lives to come up here. The Mexican Government has been oppressing their people for ever and you want the United States to give away our sovereignty of this National Historic Treasure?
Mr. Salazar, are you out of your ever loving mind? Did you possibly hit your head recently and are suffering from some lack of self control? You should not call yourself an American with the attitude you have, and maybe you should relocate to Mexico if you like Mexico that much! You should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking of this idea. I don’t care if this idea was thought of before, because that was the past and we don’t live in the past Mr. Salazar, and don’t you forget it!

I believe America is in deep trouble. First our wealth is stripped from us and now our sovereignty is ready to go. Where is it going to end? Americans need to rise up and vote every reckless politician out of office before it is too late!

I love Big Bend National Park. It is one of the best places in America to go and get away from everything. I do not want it to become an International Park. Mexico has enough problems with security on the borders already without adding this vast area to it. Americans will never be able to have easy access to their side anyway with all the security problems. They will never feel safe and then will not go to Big Bend at all. But the other side will come over here you can bet on that. We will for all purposes give Big Bend National Park to Mexico for free. That is my opinion. I will be planning another trip soon before it is gone forever. If you have not been I recommend going and get away from your crazy life for a few days. Rick Perry will not be getting my vote.

I didn’t see any mention of Road construction mentioned in the article. I always think consistency is a good thing; I would have to know more about how they would plan to merge the two parks, but consistent management across the board could be good.
